28 Feb World premiere performance of Isidora Žebeljan’s composition Needle Soup
In the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, the world premiere performance of Isidora Žebeljan’s composition Needle Soup, a surrealist fairy-tale for the octet, was held on October 7, 2015. The composition was commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic Foundation, and was performed by the members of the Berlin Philharmonic Octet: Daishin Kashimoto, violin; Romano Tommasini, violin; Amihai Grosz, viola; Christoph Igelbrink, cello; Esko Laine, double bass; Wenzel Fuchs, clarinet; Mor Biron, bassoon; Stefan Dohr, horn. After the performance, the composition received thunderous ovations by the audience, which invited the composer several times back to the stage to take bows.
